Club Assembly on 2012-04-18

On last Wednesday, all of us gathered to catch up for upcoming club matters and happy news sharing on a relaxing and joyful evening. Rtn Andy Lui gave a “site visit” for Bangkok as many of us will join the Rotary International Convention in May, and we are very pleased that Andy has well-planned the 3-day Bangkok trip so everone will fully enjoy every moment during this trip. Then Rtn Rosenna Mak gave us an update of the coming service on 12 May - “Adopt-A-School” Career Workshop for Tuen Mun Catholic School. If you are interested to join this event as a helper, please don’t forget to sign up with us.

2012-04-11 Regular Meeting with Mr Erwin Huang (黃岳永先生)

Knowledge can change one's life.  Last week, it's our honour to have Mr Erwin Huang 黃岳永先生 as our speaker to share with us about his journey a local NGO – Web Organic 「有機上網」in recent months. We were very much impressed by Mr Huang’s move to become a poverty fighting warrior who aims to provide the needy students a valuable opportunity to learn from the Internet. Mr Huang sees both hardware and software are very critical to enable eLearning from the Internet. We are glad to know Mr Huang’s great effort in narrowing down the gap between quality providers and needy ones such that they all could enjoy social mobility in our community.

Club Assembly on 2012-03-21

It has been awhile since we last held a Club Assembly for all RCC members to discuss club affairs. We had a very fruitful meeting with progressive discussions on the coming events on Club and District levels. We are very thankful to have Rtn Andy Lui to organize our large group participation to the RI Convention to be held in Bangkok in May 2012. Our PE Olivia Choi also took this evening to collect valuable opinions about the potential service projects in the next Rotary Year from we participating members.

It was our honour to have Mr Simon Shen (沈旭暉先生) to come share with us the development of policy think-tanks in western countries and countries with mature political systems. The missions and objectives of a policy think-tank is to conduct research and to engage in advocacy in areas such as social policy, political strategy, economics, military, and technology issues. In Hong Kong, there are several think-tanks established by various groups of intellectuals and professionals where they undertake research on economic social and political policies and promote to the public the local political, economic, and social development for a better understanding and higher participation by the general public.
